Channel 4's A Place in the Sun star Laura Hamilton embarks on 'scary' new project

A Place in the Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has divulged details about her "scary" new venture following her recent property acquisition abroad.

Speaking to Best magazine, the Scottish-born TV star revealed she has bought a house in Mallorca which she plans to renovate. Laura, who has been at the helm of the popular Channel 4 programme since February 2012, is well-versed in the world of property hunting under the sun.

But her experience with real estate goes even further back, as she shared that she's been involved in buying and selling properties since the age of 19. At 42 years old, Laura has assisted numerous individuals in finding their dream homes in sunny locales, and now it's time for her to relish in her own piece of heaven.

Laura explained to Best: "I'm a lot more knowledgeable now. Don't get me wrong. I've always known my stuff about property, I've been in the business since I was 19."

"But recently, I just bought my very own place in Mallorca, which is a renovation project. I've never done that overseas before and it's great that I'm actually doing this for myself.", reports the Express.

"It's given me even more insight and knowledge about it all. It's scary but great to be doing it on my own."

In a year of significant changes, Laura also shared in 2022 that she and her former spouse Alex Goward had decided to part ways after nine years of marriage. The ex-couple have two children together - Rocco, aged 10, and Tahlia, aged eight.

Laura, who has recently re-entered the dating scene following her breakup, shared with Best that she feels "older and wiser" after having come through a challenging period. She's looking forward to finalising a property purchase in early September, capping off what she describes as an "exciting" year filled with travel.

She revealed: "I've been to France, Dubai and Croatia so far this year. I'm going to Crete with the show next week and then Barcelona the following week."

"My schedule is a bit mental. That's the way I like to live my life... At a million miles an hour! I never seem to stop going."

"But the kids love visiting different places and coming along for the ride."
