Channel 5 has announced a name change, with the network being rebranded to 5.

As per Deadline, the broadcaster has decided to streamline its branding in the hope of creating synergy between the main channel and its streaming service, which was previously called My5.

The rebrand will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2025, with the streaming service set to include shows from MTV, CBS and Comedy Central, as well as films and television shows from Paramount+.

“There’s a huge appetite for [Channel 5] content in the streaming world,” said Ben Frow, Paramount UK’s Chief Content Officer. “[The new streamer will] be a much bigger and broader offer than My5 with a significantly expanded range of content including new series and box sets in reality, drama, factual and kids from across the Paramount family.”

“We have seen record growth for My5 viewing over the last three years and, as more of our audience discover streaming, we think it’s the right time to have a much closer relationship between our linear and streaming services,” added Sarah Rose, President of Channel 5 and UK Regional Lead, Paramount.

“The new exciting content and FAST channels that we’ll be offering on 5 from 2025 will build on the amazing array of homegrown Channel 5 hits we know our audience already love.”

The announcement comes just a day after the network unveiled its programming for the Autumn, with series such as All Creatures Great and Small, The Teacher, Dalgliesh and The Wives all set to air.
