Chaotic Scene Erupts After Man in Blackface Angers Protesters in Washington

A white man wearing blackface angered protesters near the White House on the night of August 27-28, in the hours after President Donald Trump gave his Republican National Convention speech.

Footage shows a man with dark colouring on his face being called “racist” by protesters as police work to separate him from demonstrators.

A black man is then heard saying “that’s blackface” before hitting the man across the face, sparking a police chase.

Anti-racism protests have been ongoing in the city over recent days, fuelled by the officer-involved shooting of Jacob Blake that month.
