If you've been listening to the radio or scrolling through TikTok recently, you've probably come across Chappell Roan's music. The singer shot to fame over the summer when one of her best known songs Good Luck Babe went to number one in the charts.

But who is she, exactly? The 26-year-old Kayleigh Rose Amstutz is known professionally as Chappell Roan and the majority of her music is inspired by 1980s synth-pop and early 2000s pop hits.

She was born in the small town of Springfield, Willard, in Missouri. She grew up in a trailer park with her family and is the oldest of their four children. She has actually been releasing music for over seven years, but it is only recently that she started getting noticed on a larger scale. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter

Unsurprisingly, tickets for Chappell Roan's current London shows she has almost finished performing, sold out on Ticketmaster for all three of her shows. Her final show is tonight (September 21), and it is set to be a memorable one for fans if the reaction to her previous performances are anything to go by.

Described as a 'super graphic ultra modern showbiz star' in one review, with her performance dubbed as 'a joyous celebration of queerness, community and fun' in another, it's safe to say that the US singer has safely won the hearts of the people in the UK.

One thing fans have praised her for is the unwavering honesty she has presented in various interviews, with people praising her for "being real" in various media appearances. And while people have been enthusing about the 'Hot To Go' singer's catchy hits, Chappell has admitted that it has not been easy to rise to success in such a short space of time.

Speaking to The Face, she said “I told myself, if this ever gets dangerous, I might quit… It’s dangerous now, and I’m still going. But that part is not what I signed up for.” She added, “I feel like fame is just abusive. The vibes of this - stalking, talking s**t online, [people who] won’t leave you alone, yelling at you in public - is the vibe of an abusive ex-husband. That’s what it feels like. I didn’t know it would feel this bad.”

The 26-year-old also told the Guardian recently that she has symptoms of brain fog, forgetfulness and poor focus. She said: " says pragmatically. “I’m in therapy twice a week. I went to a psychiatrist last week because I was like, I don’t know what’s going on. She diagnosed me with severe depression – which I didn’t think I had because I’m not actually sad. But I have every symptom of someone who’s severely depressed."

And while things have been challenging, the singer has continued to dazzle her fans with milestone after milestone, as she recently won the award for Best New Artist at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. She also performed her hit song “Good Luck, Babe” during the show.
