Charity bike ride in memory of equestrian stops at Northumberland stately home
A charity bike ride of more than 600 miles has made a stop at a stately home in Northumberland.
Cycle 4 Caroline is aiming to raise £500,000 for Spinal Research and the British Eventing Trust in memory of 31-year-old equestrian Caroline March. It covers more than 600 miles, starting at Blair Castle in Perthshire, and ending at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Day three of the ride saw cyclists arrive at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens in Northumberland, after covering around 100km. They were greeted by pupils from Belsay School and Mowden Hall School.

Caroline was competing in an equestrian event in 2022 when an accident at a cross-country fence left her paralysed from the waist down. She died in Switzerland earlier this year, aged 31, sharing a letter publicly before her death.
Organised by Caroline's brother Tom March and sister-in-law Piggy, Cycle 4 Caroline stopped at Belsay Hall on Friday afternoon, the home of the Belsay International Horse Trials. Tom and Piggy were joined on the ride by three-time equestrian Olympian Ian Stark OBE and Team GB's Holly Woodhead, among others, including close friend of Caroline Tom Howe.
Tom told ChronicleLive: "Caroline was a dear friend of mine. It was dreadful what Caroline had to go through and her family.
"So when there was an opportunity to come and hopefully try and raise some money, in the hope that other families don't have to go through the same thing, we jumped at the chance."
So far, £2,921.00 alone has been raised by the event at Belsay Hall, one of 10 legs where the cyclist will stop. For more information, or to donate, visit the event's Givewheel page.
