Charity boss taking on biggest challenge yet in bid to raise £100k for Cure Leukaemia

Cure Leukaemia Chief Executive James McLaughlin is lacing up his running shoes once again as he looks to complete his biggest challenge to date as he looks to raise vital funs and awareness for the Birmingham based charity.

James will be tackling over 220 miles across 14 days as he runs through 16 different cities to raise funds for blood cancer patients across the UK and YOU can join him along the route.

The gruelling challenge aims to raise £100,000 for the charity and the vital work that they do to fund research nurses at 15 hospitals across the UK.

These roles form the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) network giving patients, from a catchment area of 30m, access to potentially life-saving treatments through clinical trials, with plans to fund a paediatric network on the way.

The network consists of centres in Belfast, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Bristol, Cardiff, Nottingham, Birmingham, Oxford, Southampton, Surrey and two in both London and Manchester.

These nurses allow clinical trials to take place, giving patients from a catchment area of over 30 million people access to potentially life-saving treatments not currently available through standard care.

The network of research murses has been funded by Cure Leukaemia since 2020 and costs over £1million per year to maintain.

You can join James on any leg of the journey, as seen below, but whether you can make it or not - please do donate to the cause.
