‘Charity FC strike again’ - Steven Schumacher referenced as Stoke City hand Hull first win
The new era at Stoke City got off to the worst possible start after a 1-0 interval lead was overturned as Hull City ran out 3-1 winners at the bet365 Stadium.
It was the first game in the dugout for new Potters’ head coach Narcis Pelach after Monday’s sacking of Steven Schumacher, but any hopes of a winning start to his tenure vanished after half-time.
Ben Wilmot put the Potters in front but three goals in 17 minutes gave Tim Walter his first win as Hull boss.
Angry Potters fans were quick to vent their frustration after seeing their side lose a second successive match after last week’s 1-0 defeat at Oxford that did for Schumacher.
He is a sample of what they have been saying on social media…
Luke Furnival: Charity FC strike again. Hope Schuey is sat at home pissing himself. What an horrendous 2nd half performance.
Frosty: An Under 10s team could grab the points against that lot. Embarrassing.
StuartM: One of the most inept, gutless, incompetent performances I can remember. And there’s been so many to choose from. You could have Pep in charge and the club would still ruin him. Shockingly embarrassing Stoke. A long season of fighting relegation ahead.
Christopher Daplyn: Awful second half.
Stokie73: Thanks for that. Knew my 3 days of renewed optimism needed slapping down.

Ewan James: Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very bad.
Jack Mortimer: Glad we sacked Schuey, he was definitely the problem.
Jake Hall: Have we as a club ever benefited from this so-called ‘new manager bounce’?
Matt: Stupid individual errors.
Keysie: Six games into the season and already I can’t watch anymore. Anyone who thought Cannon was the ‘goal scorer’ Stoke needed were sadly mistaken. No creativity. Defensively wouldn’t look out of place in Sunday league.
Dave Stubbs: We need the decision-making on the pitch to be faster and more clinical. Slow, pedestrian and hesitant in that 2nd half. We looked knackered just before half time and never looked in the game after the break. Their 7 was a game changer. Made us look amateur.
Josh Barnett: Manager has had 2 days in charge, so how can he be getting the blame? Players flat again. They were like that last week at Oxford. Why aren’t our players fit enough? Can’t blame a manager who has been in 2 days for that.
Callum: Embarrassing. Fed up of us playing awful against similar opposition and gifting them goals. We’re too far gone to challenge in this league.
Scott Trafford: We started fast, pressing hard but all that chasing down just exhausted the players. Second half we had nothing to give. Cannon not that impressive in his 2 games so far, but he's been feeding off scraps. Staying up looks like the target again.
Russell Dutton: Struggling to find the words to describe that second half. I hope the lads are totally ashamed of themselves. They have disgraced us in that second half tonight. Embarrassed and very angry indeed. What the hell do you do with that lot?
