Former members of Ireland's Defence Forces are taking to the streets in tricolour sleeping bags mirroring the national flag to highlight the plight of homeless veterans.
Dubbed "sleeping flags", the action was organised by the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel .
The group works to provide shelter for homeless veterans and helps them with issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
A statement from the group said the aim of the action was to challenge “protocols around the treatment and representation of the Irish flag”.
Homelessness is on the rise everywhere in Europe, except Finland, according to the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless (Feantsa).
