Charity shop goes viral after £2 'lucky dip' bags stun bargain hunters
A charity shop's "lucky dip" bags have taken the internet by storm after TikTok bargain hunter Becky (@beckysbazaar) shared her find online.
She purchased one of the mystery bags for £2, hoping to strike it lucky, and filmed herself revealing its contents. Becky was thrilled after first pulling out Bayliss and Harding soap, compression socks and Darceys Luxury Body Lotion. AirPod earphones covers followed, alongside a homely sign, four lavender bath bombs, a chain belt, and what appeared to be several refills for a Parker pen.
Questioning the value of her purchase, Becky asked her 282,000 followers: "Was it worth £2?" The response was overwhelmingly positive, with users expressing their approval of the deal. One user quipped: "Yes, paper bags cost around £2 now!" While another pointed out: "The Darceys Lotion is around £12.99-£15 a bottle."
A third suggested selling the belt on Vinted, believing it could fetch a good price, and a fourth TikTok user exclaimed: "Just two pounds? I would buy all of that." However, not everyone was enamoured with the idea, as one person remarked: "Not for me. I'd be donating it straight to another charity shop. I have too much stuff already!"
Becky, a reseller based near Manchester, recently disclosed she's made an impressive £100,000 by reselling clothes online. She sources old clothes from charity shops and car boot sales, earning up to £3,000 per month - totalling around £100,000 so far.
Speaking to MEN, Becky said: "I have turned thrifting into a job. I make £2,500 to £3,000-a-month on average. I've made over £100,000 in four years. I have always prolonged the life of anything. I have always hated throwing away things before they need to be. I would reuse the cardboard from toilet rolls for my dolls."
