A CHARITY is set to open its biggest store yet later this month at a Bournemouth retail park.

Dorset-based charity Prama, which supports elderly people and carers, is to open its first ever superstore in Westover Retail Park in Castle Lane, Bournemouth on February 14 at 10am.

Based in the former Dreams unit next to Pets at Home, this will be Prama’s ninth branch – with other ones in Christchurch, Poole and Blandford.

Fern Chapman, marketing administrator at Prama, said: “We are opening our new store in Castle Lane and it will be bigger than we have ever had before.

“The money that we raise in our charity shops it goes to fund PramaLife community groups and activites.

“We have nine charity shops across Dorset and every time we open a new one it gets better and better.

“The shops are very popular to local communities and the products we sell are very affordable because we have a set price.”

Ms Chapman added pressures from the cost of living crisis is making the need for a charity superstore even more necessary.

Prama is mostly run by volunteers and the shop will sell preloved clothes, bric-a-brac, shoes, books, toys, electricals and furniture.

She added: “We will also be taking donations for the shop and it will be very welcome.”

Prama is a group of health and social care charities in the south of England. In addition to a large home care business, brain injury services and numerous clubs and activities, it is also involved in supporting the human rights of the elderly and age-friendly communities locally, nationally and internationally.

The group funds Memory Lane groups (for those living with dementia), Sporting Memories (dementia and reminiscence friendship clubs), Museum Memories (dementia and reminiscence friendship clubs), Carers Support Groups and Befriending services and much more.

The new superstore will be open from Tuesday, February 14 and will trade Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
