Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen has starred in a series of adverts for Hostelworld in which he pokes fun at his public image and past exploits.

The former star of hit US sitcom Two and a Half Men appears in six new videos for the hostel booking website, enjoying all the facilities on offer while gently mocking his previous wild lifestyle.

In one clip he utters his infamous catchphrase "winning!".

In another he is seen binging on white powder, which turns out to be sherbet dip.

The idea behind the campaign is to highlight how hostels have reformed over the past few years.

Otto Rosenberger, chief marketing officer at Hostelworld, said, "We've teamed up with Sheen to poke fun at his irreverent past and prove that hostels, too, have reformed.

"Today they have private rooms...and a unique range of facilities from roof top terraces...to trendy bars."

Sheen commented, "Reputations all start somewhere - but that doesn't mean you can't change.

"It's true that I've had some wild days...But like a phoenix reborn from the ashes, I'm a reformed character."

The adverts were all filmed at London's Wombats City Hostel.
