Celebrities are just like us in that they can't always squeeze in a hair colour appointment before a big event. 'I didn't have time to do my roots,' admitted Charlize Theron on the 2020 SAG Awards red carpet. To cover up her growing-in hair, Theron and her hairstylist Adir Abergel placed a $15,500 Tiffany & Co. Victoria Line diamond bracelet down her centre parting. So celebrities aren't always exactly like us—but you could recreate the look with any delicate piece of jewellery.

Abergel first prepped the actress's hair with Virtue Labs Healing Oil, smoothing a generous amount with his hands from root to tip (Abergel is the brand's creative director). The protein-packed oil applies clear, so it won't give hair as light as Theron's a yellowish tint.

He then followed up with Virtue Labs Un-Frizz cream to get a glossy finish. To secure the classic Tiffany & Co diamond piece, Abergel created a tiny French braid along her centre part to ensure the jewellery would stay put. Once the diamonds were pinned in place, he smoothed her hair once more with the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer using the comb attachment.

On the red carpet, the diamonds looked purposeful and gorgeous and not just like a genius hair hack. She wore her make-up simple and glowy, with just a nude lipstick and sheer wash of violet eyeshadow. She paired the hair jewels with two other shiny moments: massive 11-carat Tiffany & Co. platinum and diamond earrings and a glitzy and cool crop top gown from Givenchy.

The Bombshell star is no stranger to radical haircuts and styles. She's had her head shaved, rocked a bowl cut, and has mastered the pixie. At the Oscars back in 2013, she described cutting her hair short as liberating. 'It's the most freeing thing, I highly recommend it,' she said. 'I think every woman should do it.'

Theron is nominated for two awards at the SAG Awards 2020, both for her work in the film Bombshell.
