Charlize Theron's new action film Atomic Blonde continues to look seriously promising.
A thrilling new international trailer has landed that seems to give us a better idea of the film's structure – flashbacks from an interview, maybe? – as well as an extended look at some of its set pieces.
"I know she doesn't play by our rules, but she's our best intelligence expert," John Goodman's character tells us of Theron's agent Lorraine Broughton.
She's dispatched to Berlin alone to deliver a priceless dossier out of the city before the Berlin Wall falls, and finds herself having to navigate through a deadly game of spies.
So far, so generic. But since the film comes from John Wick co-director David Leitch, we're hopeful that Atomic Blonde will deliver much of the same tongue-in-cheek tone and seriously cool action scenes.
After all, the trailer ends with Theron's agent taking down a room of baddies while the camera just lets the action do the talking.
"I chose this life and someday, it's going to get me killed. But not today," she says in a voiceover.
Atomic Blonde also stars James McAvoy, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones, and is based on the graphic novel The Coldest City which was adapted for the screen by 300's Kurt Johnstad.
It shoots into US cinemas on July 28 and UK cinemas on August 11. Watch a previous trailer below:
