It seems like Rose McGowan's memoir BRAVE will be a must-read when it's released next year.

In an excerpt published on i-D, the Charmed star hit out at Hollywood for turning her into a "fantasy f**k toy", as well as revealing the reason she decided to shave her head back in 2015.

"I realised I had broken up with someone. I broke up with you. The collective you, the societal you. I broke up with the Hollywood ideal, the one that I had a part in playing," McGowan wrote.

"Hair is what I broke up with. And it was a break-up that was years in the making; it took a lot to wake me from my brainwashed slumber. My long hair had always made me uncomfortable. It felt like I had a plant on my head and a sex target on my back."

No hair don't care. Honestly, it's liberating.

McGowan also reveals that she was once told by a female agent that she should keep her long hair for a very stark reason.

"I was literally told I had to have long hair otherwise the men doing the hiring in Hollywood wouldn't want to f**k me and if they didn't want to f**k me, they wouldn't hire me," she claimed.

She added that she has nothing against people who want to have long hair, but it had turned her into something she wasn't happy with.

"I had been turned into the ultimate fantasy f**k toy by the Hollywood machine," McGowan noted. "All of the men and women hired to make me look like said fantasy f**k toy did a good job, but I was dying on the inside and embarrassed by what I looked like on the outside.

"When I shaved my head it was a battle cry, but more than that it gave me an answer to the question I so hated."

BRAVE is out on January 30 through HarperCollins.
