Fans of the TV series Charmed who are still holding out hope for that rumoured reboot, prepare to be disappointed.

Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell in the supernatural smash-hit series, has quashed speculation about Charmed's potential return.

"I'm sorry to say that all the reboot rumors are just that.... rumors. But here's #tbt to our wood nymph days," she said on her Instagram post, referring to a throwback image from Charmed.

"In our defense it was really hot so we wanted to wear the least amount of clothes possible. Really hot. That's my story and still sticking to it. Still."

For a bit of background, back in January news first circulated that a potential reboot was on the cards, when US channel The CW ordered a pilot to be made, without it being clear whether the original cast would return.

"At this point, it's a self-contained, self-sustaining show," CW boss Mark Pedowitz said at the time. "In terms of whether the [original] characters or actresses will come into the series, we'll see what happens as the series goes on. That's to be determined."

Then, not quite a month later, the idea of a reboot was temporarily shelved but not entirely discounted as a possibility.

Fast forward to the last few months, and rumours were swirling about a reboot that might have found a home on Netflix, with the original cast to be involved too. But we're sorry to say it looks like we can now wave goodbye to hopes of that.
