There's no doubt that appearing on ITV's The Chase is a high-pressure situation (especially if you're facing The Governess Anne Hegerty), but sometimes a contestant makes a mistake so epic that you can't quite believe watch you're watching.

That was the case on Wednesday (January 16) when contestant Delwen got a question about her own job wrong.

The former headteacher now works as a police dispatcher, so she should have been thrilled when a question about the police came up. But it turns out Delwen might have missed some training.

Delwen was asked: "What is the highest badge of rank in the Metropolitan Police? Chief Superintendent, Commissioner or Commander."

To which she responded: "I'm not quite sure of that answer. Commander sounded as if it might be the highest rank."

The answer, as host Bradley Walsh revealed, was Commissioner. And of course The Governess Anne Hegerty got it right.

The blunder was so bad that some viewers even wondered if Delwen would have a job in the morning.

As expected, Delwen didn't last much longer before being eliminated.

Meanwhile, love is in the air for Chaser Paul Sinha, who revealed on Twitter at the beginning of the year that he's engaged to his boyfriend.

"I proposed today. He said yes," Paul shared, before quipping: "Thus starts yet another diet."

The Chase airs on ITV.
