The Chase wouldn't be the success it is today without its Chasers, but we all know the real heroes of the ITV gameshow are the contestants.

Well, following an episode of The Chase that aired yesterday (March 24), it appears the one true hero has now been crowned, with fans of the series hailing contestant Ali for delivering one of its "best" ever performances.

Although the episode itself was a repeat, viewers were thrilled to see Ali take on Mark 'The Beast' Labbett all by herself in the final round, securing £5,000 in the process. After an intense round of quizzing, Ali managed to bag the prize money with just two questions to spare – and after pushing The Beast back four times.

Fans praised Ali's trouncing of The Beast as "heroic" and "one of the best final chases ever". Another agreed: "Didn't see that one coming... Well done... One of the best chases of all time..."

"I've never felt so proud of someone on the chase," one viewer claimed, while others admitted they were "delighted" for Ali's humble yet impressive win.

Ali, we salute you.

Meanwhile, in other Chase news, Chaser Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha recently revealed that he won't be appearing in the upcoming series of spin-off Beat the Chasers.

The comedian and quizmaster was unable to attend filming for the new episodes, which see the show's Chasers team up and go head-to-head against a contestant, due to illness.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
