Chatridge 2 Fire Burns Over 500 Acres in Central Colorado

A malfunctioning power pole was to blame for the Chatridge 2 brush fire that forced thousands of families from their homes, according to the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office ordered the mandatory evacuation of the BackCountry community in Highlands Ranch as crews fought the flames.

South Metro Fire said the fire was 100 percent contained as of Tuesday. No structures were damaged or destroyed and there were no reported injuries, the department said.
