'Cheap' holiday destination has 'everything you could need' and is just hours away
When you think of Italy, it's easy to imagine the destinations that cost a fortune – Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Sicily, and many others.
However, there are parts of Italy that are more affordable but still offer that luxurious 'boujee' feel. @thetravelmum suggests that if you're budget-conscious but still want a touch of luxury, Cinque Terra in Italy is the place to be.
She explained "it's five towns on the north western coast of Italy". She also advised people to look for cheap flights to Genoa airport, as there's an easy "air link" to the train station.
From the train station, "you can easily get the train down the coast to the towns". She revealed that she stayed in a "place called Rapello", which helped her save a significant amount on the trip.
Despite being much cheaper, she described it as "the perfect base" because "it's got everything you're gonna need".
It also has a train station, making it "cheap and easy to get down to the five towns" – rather than staying in one of them which would be more costly.
She described the towns as "beautiful" and "so picturesque" – and judging by her stunning photos, she's not exaggerating!
She characterised the towns as the "perfect place to mooch around, have some drinks, and try some fantastic Italian food." She mentioned there are even beaches, which would be "perfect" for summer visits.
In the comments, a user expressed their appreciation: "Beautiful! Thanks for sharing the more 'less' travelled places on your page. Inspired."
Another commenter offered a word of caution: "Beautiful places to visit. You need to think about when you go. The towns are very popular with big crowds and packed trains at peak times."
An excited TikToker revealed their travel aspirations: "This has been on my list for ages!"
For those looking to explore Cinque Terre, the most straightforward route is flying from the UK to Italy, with Pisa International Airport, Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport, and Florence Airport being the closest options.
Upon landing in Italy, visitors can hop on a train to reach Cinque Terre. The region's five picturesque villages are interconnected by rail, with La Spezia and Levanto serving as the primary railway hubs nearby.
