Check your video game collection this weekend for these 10 games worth up to £9k
The video game industry is one of the most lucrative markets in the world. Whilst PlayStations, XBoxes and Switches dominate the market now, game consoles of yesteryear are quite lucrative prizes themselves.
Many old consoles like a Sega Megadrive or an SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) go for hundreds, even thousands in some cases and their games are no different. If you have held onto a load of your old games you may be sitting on a treasure trove unknowingly.
We asked CeX, the UK's biggest second-hand electronics and entertainment specialists, what the most valuable games are currently and told us about a number of retro titles that are worth thousands. The key thing to them being worth so much is that they also have to be in mint condition.

A spokesperson for CEX said: "Currently, the most valuable games are dominated by retro titles in mint condition, with the most valuable at this time being a mint condition 'T-Mek' on the Mega 32X where we offer £1312 on a CeX voucher or £1137 in cash.
"Following that, the most valuable game that is not in mint condition would be for a boxed JP copy of 'SD Gundam Dimension War' on the Virtual Boy."
T-MEK is a game where you play in a hovering tank called a MEK. In the game, you use your MEKs to win the ultimate MEK battle tourney and become the champion.
SD Gundam Dimension War turns up three times on the list, all with differing degrees of stature. One is in mint condition, the other is just boxed with the manual and the third is boxed without the manual. The highest price you could get for this was £910 for the mint condition game.
Those Gundam games were all released on the Virtual Boy which was a short-lived portable VR console from the 90s. It was released in Japan and North America and only sold for a year so is a true antique of the gaming world. Another game on the list sold on the Virtual Boy was Virtual Lab which is a puzzle game. This can fetch you £812 at CeX.
The second most valuable game on the list is Mega Max X2 on the SNES. This game was released in 1994 and is the follow-up to Mega Man X which was the first Mega Man game released on a console. This game can get you £975 in cash if you trade it in.
Snowboard Kids 2 is the third most valuable on the list. The game is a snowboard racing and skills game that was released in 1999. The one that CeX values as the most valuable though is the mint condition Australian version that is a PAL version so the final ones released. This means that it is the best running game with the least bugs and best looking, sometimes coming with some significant changes. This version of Snowboard Kids 2 is also worth £975.
DarXide is a shoot'em up game worth £910. Being one of the more technically impressive games on the Sega Megadrive 32x this game was a PAL exclusive release and was one of the very last games released for the 32x. This is what makes it so valuable.
The only PlayStation entry on this list is Cindy's Fashion World. The most valuable PlayStation game at CeX, this is apparently so valuable because it became one of the rarest games due to it having a game-breaking bug on the PlayStation. It would not run on certain models meaning it became scarce as people were not getting it. Now, if you are lucky to have a copy, it is being bought by CeX for £897.
The final game on the list is Power Drive on the Sega Game Gear. This game saw you race a rally car picking up time bonuses and things to improve your car. Copies of the game are also scarce which sees it become even more valuable. The game is worth £780 on this list an the Game Gear's only entry.
