After many, many, MANY years of getting stuck into chocolate advent calendars, I’m in the market for something new. How about you?

Yes, I like the idea of something boozy, but I think, this year, I’m going to get myself this cheese advent calendar.

It came about after food blogger Annem Hobson of So Wrong It’s Nom caused a media frenzy with her initial cheese advent calendar prototype back in 2016. She was fed up of chocolate advent calendars so decided to get cheese in on the festive action. In just four days, over 11,000 people signed up to buy one of her calendars. So in 2017, the calendar was finally bought to life thanks to Somerset-based cheese specialists Norseland.

Behind each door of the Ilchester British Cheese Advent Calendar, you’ll find a miniature cheese and an equally cheesy joke. It is Christmas after all.

So, what kind of cheeses can we expect from this £8 calendar? Well, last year we were treated to a whole host of varieties, including Jarlsberg, Double Gloucester, Cheddar and the particularly festive Wensleydale with Cranberries & Gingerbread. So hopefully more of the same!

Annem says of her cheese advent calendar:“Since I first made a handmade prototype, the Cheese Advent Calendar has reached goals I could only dream of! From outselling chocolate at major retailers, to continuing to retail in more and more countries each year. The response from fans - many of whom have followed since day one - has been phenomenal. I’m thrilled to launch a new and improved version of the Cheese Advent Calendar based on feedback from the loyal cheese-loving community!”

You can pick up this dreamy advent calendar from a number of retailers including Sainsbury’s, Lidl and Waitrose from early November.
