Head chef at Glasgow's Michelin star restaurant Cail Bruich, Lorna McNee has joined the judging panel for the Great British Menu.

For the BBC Two show's 20th series, McNee, a former champion of the show, will join chef Tom Kerridge and comedian Ed Gamble in the search to find the best cuisine in Britain. It comes after restaurateur Nisha Katona is leaving the show.

The programme sees top chefs from various regions compete to produce a menu around a specific theme, and if successful the chef's dishes are served at a prestigious banquet.

The Glasgow chef, who serves hungry customers at the Great Western Road restaurant, is reported to be the only female chef in Scotland to currently hold the prestigious Michelin star award.

Sharing her excitement on social media, she wrote: "The news is out. I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ve been given the incredible privilege of becoming the third judge on Great British Menu, alongside the hysterical @edgamblecomedy and the legendary @cheftomkerridge. And of course we can't forget what an experience and pleasure it is to work alongside @andioliver again!

"It’s such an honor to be asked back. From competing in 2018, to winning in 2019, and now returning as a judge—what a journey it’s been! I feel so lucky and grateful for every step along the way.

"Huge thanks to the incredible @kerry.hairandmakeup for all my hair and makeup, and the brilliant @sharajohnson for styling me throughout this experience. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to cope without them!

"Can’t wait to get started on this new adventure."

This season's theme, Great Britons, will see the chefs draw inspiration from notable people from their area. Each episode will feature a guest judge with strong connections to the region or nation being judged who will help decide the winning chef.

Series 20 of Great British Menu will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in early 2025.
