Chef's hack for 'best bacon you'll ever have' - but some say it's 'disgusting'
Cooking bacon to perfection can often lead to charred and excessively dry results.
However, TikTok's @chefthomson has divulged his secret to achieving perfect crispiness minus the burn and has shared his expert tips for cooking flawless bacon.
He highlighted that the "most common mistake" in bacon preparation is cranking up the heat too much, which inevitably turns the bacon "very dry and crusty".

Reject the temptation of using too much oil or defaulting to the oven and give his foolproof method a shot instead. The chef shared a clip showing how to cook what he calls the "best bacon you'll ever have", reports the Express.
Starting off simply, he says you begin with the bacon in a cold pan, then drowning it in water and setting the pan over medium heat. Listening closely for when the water starts to boil is crucial because that's the signal to switch to simmering.
Should the water become overly vigorous, just turn down the heat slightly. According to him, regular flipping of the bacon is encouraged - this isn't like searing a steak.
Stick to these guidelines, he promises: "You'll end up with chewy, rich bacon. This is going to be some of the best bacon you'll probably ever have."
An endorsement came from user @uknownperson420: "I agree because I used to like crunchy bacon but I tried cooking bacon this way and it slaps."
For those who fancy their bacon with extra crunch, he reassures: "Using this method you can still make the bacon crispy. Just leave it in the pan longer."
But not everyone's on board, with another user promoting the oven method for consistently "perfect" bacon. The chef responded: "Oven is good for a large batch. For a smaller portion, this method will be quicker and yield a better result."
