Alvaro Morata has thanked Cesar Azpilicueta after the Chelsea defender provided yet another assist for the striker on Sunday.

Morata was brought on by Chelsea coach Antonio Conte in the 80th minute of the club's FA Cup semi-final against Southampton at Wembley with the Blues leading 1-0.

And just two minutes later, Azpilicueta sent a ball in from the right flank which Morata headed past Alex McCarthy to make sure of Chelsea's place in May's FA Cup Final against Manchester United.

Morata has now scored nine headers this season - with seven of them being set up by Azpilicueta.

And after the win over the Saints, Morata thanked his compatriot for the way he has understood his game since he joined Chelsea last summer.

"It was a very good match," Morata told Chelsea TV.

"I could have scored another goal at the last moment, I was a little bit unlucky but we are in the final and that’s the most important thing, we are happy.

"I always say thanks to Azpi because this year he knows where I want the ball and it’s great to have all of the assists from him."
