Chelsea Ladies are on track to reach the semi‑finals of the Champions League for the first time after a 2-0 victory away to Montpellier.

After a patchy first half, Chelsea seized control four minutes after the break when Fran Kirby’s through ball was clinically finished by Ji So-yun.

Erin Cuthbert headed in from a Magdalena Eriksson corner shortly after coming on as a substitute to leave Chelsea in control ahead of next Wednesday’s quarter‑final second leg at Kingsmeadow.

Manager Emma Hayes said: “I thought Montpellier started the game very well in the first 20 minutes. We turned the ball over a lot and played too quickly away from home, it took us a while to settle down and thankfully we didn’t concede in that period.
