Chelsea fell to a second consecutive loss for only the second time under Thomas Tuchel as they were beaten by Juventus in Wednesday’s Champions League Group H tie in Turin.

Federico Chiesa’s thumping finish just 10 seconds after half-time condemned the holders - also beaten by Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday - to their first group stage loss for two years.

James Robson was in Turin to run the rule over Chelsea’s players...

Edouard Mendy 6

Should have been tested much more, given the amount of openings Juve created, but their finishing let them down. Could do nothing about Chiesa’s strike.

Andreas Christensen 5

As uncomfortable as he has looked in a long time. Outmuscled by Chiesa in the first half and pulled out of position for the goal after the break.

Thiago Silva 6

Looked as exposed as anyone when Juve broke at speed. A tough night as Chelsea were dragged out of shape.

Antonio Rudiger 6

Forced into rash tackles to try to shackle Juve’s flying attacks and wasn’t helped by Alonso.

Cesar Azpilicueta 5

Could not offer much in the way of deliveries from wide positions and struggled to keep the door shut behind him.

Jorginho 5

Back-to-back games where he has failed to get a grip in midfield. Overrun when Juve went forward.

Mateo Kovacic 6

Crucial challenge on Federico Bernardeschi on the edge of the box denied a goal-scoring chance. Did not offer enough from an attacking point of view.

Marcos Alonso 5

Ineffective going forward and likewise at the back. Juve’s best moments came down his side in the first half and he was hooked at the break.

Kai Havertz 5

Promising start as he found some dangerous pockets, but did not do enough with the ball when he got it.

Romelu Lukaku 5

Starved of service yet again and it is becoming a problem. Still, he had a glorious chance to equalise, but fired over.

Hakim Ziyech 6

Worked hard, but service let him down. Where have his crosses gone?

Subs

Ben Chilwell (Alonso, 46’) 5

On the pitch for 10 seconds before Chelsea went behind. The service he was supposed to add, did not materialise.

Trevoh Chalobah (Jorginho, 62’) 6

Brought on to give Chelsea the presence in midfield they lacked, which says everything, given his inexperience.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Ziyech, 62’) 6

It was after his arrival that Chelsea finally put a cross into the box to Lukaku.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Azpilicueta, 62’) 6

Getting a lot more game-time than anyone expected. And if Chelsea keep playing this badly, he might even get a start soon.

Ross Barkley (Christensen, 74’) 5

He surely thought his days of playing Champions League football for Chelsea were over.

Not used:Kepa, Bettinelli, Sarr, Saul, Werner
