Chelsea in talks with PSV over permanent transfer of Marco van Ginkel

PSV Eindhoven have opened talks with Chelsea over signing Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel on a permanent basis.

Chelsea are prepared to negotiate over the 24-year-old, who has made just four appearances since joining from Vitesse Arnhem for £8m in 2013.

Van Ginkel has just two years left on his current contract and is unlikely to be a part of coach Antonio Conte's plans next term, but they value him at a minimum of £10m.

He was sent on loan to PSV for a second time last season, having enjoyed a spell there the campaign before.

PSV are now looking into whether they can buy the midfielder outright and could include a sizeable sell-on clause to convince Chelsea to sell for a lower price.

That is what was agreed, as well as a buy back option, when former Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma joined PSV for around £2.5m in 2013.

​Bruma's switch to Wolfsburg for £12m last summer netted the Blues an extra £3.6m because of the sell-on clause agreed with PSV.

Fenerbahce were also interested in his signature when Dick Advocaat was in charge, but he has left to take over the Holland national team.

Van Ginkel's agent, Karel Jansen, told Standard Sport in April that his client would have talks with Chelsea in the summer first before deciding where he will be playing in 2017-18 and a move to PSV, even if it ends up being a third loan spell, now looks imminent.

Chelsea have already sold a number of fringe players to raise revenue for their summer spending spree, including Bertrand Traore, Juan Cuadrado, Christian Atsu and Asmir Begovic, while Nathan Ake is about to leave for Bournemouth.
