Chelsea vs Barcelona, Uefa Champions League team news and starting line-ups

Eden Hazard leads Chelsea's attack as Lionel Messi starts for Barcelona in tonight's last-16 Champions League first-leg clash at Stamford Bridge.

With Alvaro Morata still searching for full fitness after returning from a back problem, Hazard starts in a central role for Antonio Conte's Premier League champions.

Willian and Pedro start either side of Hazard, while N'Golo Kante is paired with Cesc Fabregas in central midfield.

And Conte has tasked a three-man defence of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen with stopping the likes of Messi and Luis Suarez, while Gary Cahill has been dropped.

Chelsea XI: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso; Willian, Hazard, Pedro

Subs: Caballero, Drinkwater, Morata, Giroud, Zappacosta, Cahill, Hudson-Odoi

Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Pique, Umtiti, Alba; Busquets, Paulinho, Rakitic, Iniesta; Messi, Suarez

Subs: Cillessen, Denis Suarez, Dembele, Digne, Andre Gomes, Aleix Vidal, Vermaelen

Conte said in the build-up to tonight's match that Chelsea must be in the right frame of mind against Ernesto Valverde's Spanish giants, saying: "We have to play against a fantastic team, one of the best in the world.

"But this type of game we must be excited to play. For sure it won't be easy.

"I think we start this game as underdogs for sure because Barcelona are favourites to go to the next round."
