Chelsea win fourth successive Women's Super League

Chelsea won their fourth successive Women's Super League on Saturday after beating Reading 3-0.

The Blues were two points ahead of Manchester United heading into the last games of the 2022-23 season, knowing a win would see them to another league trophy.

Goals for Chelsea came courtesy of Guro Reitan and a Sam Kerr double at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Reading.

The Blues' recent dominance shone through as their hosts failed to deal with the attacking talent of Emma Hayes' side, who finished the season on a seven-game league-winning run.

Saturday's breakthrough came in the 18th minute through Kerr, who headed in a Reiten cross to make it 1-0.

Norway international Reiten scored after 42 minutes when she pounced on a loose ball in the Reading backline, putting Chelsea 2-0 up.

After a second half with long periods of possession for Chelsea, Kerr broke through the Reading defence to score in the 88th minute.

The result sees Kelly Chambers' Reading relegated to the Women's Championship after eight seasons in the WSL.

Chelsea's title win means they have clinched a domestic double, having seen off Manchester United in the FA Cup final earlier this month.
