Yahoo News Cheltenham Festival 2018 results: Every winner as Native River clinches controversial Gold Cup
Native River, trained by Colin Tizzard and ridden by Richard Johnson, won the Timico Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival on Friday.
Third 12 months ago, the 5-1 shot went two places better to win in the hands of champion jockey Richard Johnson, who was landing the blue riband for the second time after Looks Like Trouble in 2000.
Johnson was later banned for seven days and fined £6,550 after being found guilty of misusing his whip during the course of the win.
Earlier on Friday, Farclas opened his account over jumps with a gritty performance to land the JCB Triumph Hurdle, while Bridget Andrews drove Mohaayed home in the Randox Health County Handicap Hurdle.
Kilbricken Storm caused a 33-1 upset as he showed stamina in abundance to win the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham ahead of Native River's Gold Cup success.
Harriet Tucker then overcame a dislocated shoulder to guide Pacha Du Polder to a repeat success in the St James's Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup Open Hunters' Chase before Blow By Blow gave trainer Gordon Elliott his eighth winner of the meet in the Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.
