Cher Lloyd diagnosed with gestational diabetes during second pregnancy

Pregnant Cher Lloyd "burst into tears" after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

The X Factor star, who is expecting her second child with her husband Craig Monk, revealed the news on Instagram on Monday alongside a picture of a blood sugar monitor.

"I got the call last week to tell me I had gestational diabetes. I burst into tears. I felt scared, confused and instantly blamed myself," she wrote in the caption. "I've spent most of my time researching gestational diabetes and trying to find recipes and ways to control it. I'm still getting used to the changes and how this might affect the rest of my pregnancy. I just wanted to reach out to any fellow gestational diabetes mamas out there sharing advise, stories and suggestions (sic). Sending love."

Gestational diabetes is a condition characterised by an elevated level of glucose in the blood during pregnancy and it usually disappears after the baby is born.

In the comments, Katie Waissel, who was in Cher's category on The X Factor in 2010, told the Swagger Jagger singer that her post "tugged at (her) heart so much".

"The fact that we get to test for these things means that we can do our best to balance our levels. And if anyone can conquer anything, it's YOU!" she praised. "Stay strong, I'm happy to call and help if you need me, and know you are so loved and supported by so many. You can do this mama."

Cher, 30, got married to Craig in 2013 and they welcomed their first child, Delilah-Rae, in 2018. She announced her second pregnancy in April.
