Cher Slammed For Twitter Tribute After Turkey Terror Attack

Cher, 70, has been slammed by fans on social media for her “insensitive” tweet in the wake of the terror attack on Ataturk Airport in Turkey.

Two bomb explosions tore through the crowds in Istanbul on Tuesday evening (June 28), leaving 36 people dead and as many as 150 injured.

Expressing her concerns for the victims, the singer tweeted: “We all pray for innocent ppl in turkey airport (sic).”

While people respected her written response to the tragic news, they did not appreciate her emoji choice – as the Believe singer added the fused bomb emoji, and a blast emoji character.

Fans were quick to condemn Cher, with one user writing: “Do we really use bomb and explosion emojis right now? Its like your promoting them (sic).”

Staggered by Cher’s decision, another tweeted: “Really Cher? Bomb emojis? Grow up!”

“Those emojis are actually very inappropriate,” one fan added.

Earlier in the evening, Cher had said that she was “watching in horror” as the devastating news broke from Istanbul’s Atatutrk Airport, which is the third busiest in Europe.

Two of the attackers detonated their explosives at the terminal entrance after being fired upon by police, officials have said.

Other media outlets reported the sound of gunfire at the scene, while footage showed terrified children and parents crouching among the debris as screams were heard in the background.

Turkey has suffered several bombings in recent months, including two suicide attacks in tourist areas of Istanbul, and two car bombings in the capital, Ankara.

Our deepest prayers and thoughts are with the victims and the families affected by the recent attacks. #PrayForTurkey
