The singer has pretty much had us in tears this afternoon reading her Honest blog for The Huffington Post in which she describes her tough upbringing.

Writing for herself, the X Factor judge speaks candidly about childhood, saying how little money the family had.

“We didn’t have much money and there were times when me and my brothers and sister would have to go without so we had food on the table,” she writes in the sincere blog.

Despite this, her parents still managed to scrape together enough money to send little Chez to dance lessons where she learned how to be the mega pop star type that she is today and for this, she will always be eternally grateful:

“Without them realising it they’d opened up a whole new world to me and for that, I am so, so grateful. They’ve made it possible for me to create an amazing life for myself, doing something I love every day,” the 31-year-old says.

Cheryl then urges readers to understand the important of giving children positive role models just like she had growing up:

“Too many young people are growing up without this vital support. With no-one to turn to, many of these young people are battling issues such as long-term unemployment, addiction, homelessness and depression, alone. Life can seem harsh for these young people, and we need to help them before it is too late.”

And that’s where she comes in – appealing to people to support her charity Cheryl’s trust which supports thousands of disadvantaged young people in turning their lives around.
