It's official! Cheryl is making her return to The X Factor this year.

After a two-year hiatus away from the show, and after much speculation from fans, the former judge will be assisting Simon Cowell at the Judges' Houses stage of the competition.

She'll join Simon at the Chateau Diter – a mansion just outside Cannes, France – and help pick which three of his acts to take through to the live shows.

We're still weeks from finding out which group of acts the judges will have, as The X Factor continues its Bootcamp stage tonight (October 7).

Cheryl, who is officially a Tweedy again after reverting back to her maiden name, seemingly teased her X Factor return with a cheeky post on her hair stylist Daya Ruci's Instagram page.

In a shot posted on Friday (October 6), we see a Cheryl-like brunette sitting in a chair having her hair and make-up done, alongside the caption: "Guess who!"

The former Girls Aloud star was of course a judge on The X Factor from 2008 to 2010, and then again from 2014 to 2015.

She also signed up for Simon Cowell's US version in 2011, before facing the axe and being replaced prior to it even airing, although the less said about that the better.

The X Factor continues tonight at 8.15pm and Sunday at 7.30pm on ITV.
