Cheryl will be seen discussing her son Bear in a new TV interview, recorded prior to the tragic death of his dad, Liam Payne. The appearance is the first time Cheryl has been seen since Liam died last month aged 31.

The former One Direction star welcomed Bear with Girls Aloud star Cheryl in 2017. The interview is set to be broadcast in the days after Liam's funeral after he died in Argentina, , reports the Mirror.

In the wake of Liam's death, Cheryl said: "Liam was not only a pop star and a celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our seven-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again."

It remains uncertain whether Cheryl, who separated from Liam in 2018, will attend her former partner's funeral this week, or if she will bring young Bear to his father's farewell in Wolverhampton. Three people have been charged in connection with Liam's death after he fell from a hotel balcony.

Cheryl has maintained a low profile since releasing her tribute to Liam last month but will return to our TV screens over the weekend. Prior to the premiere of The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2, London, which aligns with what would have been their late bandmate Sarah Harding's 43rd birthday, Girls Aloud participated in an interview with ITV.

The interview took place on Tuesday, October 8 - days before Liam's death on Wednesday, October 16. Cheryl is seen with bandmates Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, along with Ben Shephard. The group enthusiastically discussed their incredible reunion tour, which comprised 30 shows across the UK and Ireland

"The music industry is such a young place, that when you're that young and you're shrouded in that ageism you just think we could never possibly do that at that age," Nicola reflected during the conversation. Cheryl then highlighted "how fortunate" she and her three remaining bandmates are to reunite 22 years after first being formed on Popstars: The Rivals.

Speaking before Liam's death, the former X Factor judge confessed that she, Kimberly and Nadine "became a bit cooler" in the eyes of their children as they joined them on tour earlier this year. Both Liam and Cheryl have previously shared the story behind their son's unique name.

On RuPaul's What's The Tee podcast in 2019, Cheryl revealed that she didn't have a name ready immediately after his birth. She recalled how a midwife began using the nickname in the hospital.

Cheryl recounted her experience: "When I was in the hospital, he used to make these noises. We had specialists coming in to see what was going on with his breathing like ... quite cute but, yeah, worrisome. Nothing wrong [though], just him. The midwife would come in every day and go 'how's the little bear? ' [...] I didn't have the name prior.

"I couldn't get the nickname Bear out of my mind. We toyed with other one but I didn't want him to be the third such and such in his class. I wanted him to have a unique name."
