The Greatest Dancer will try to boost those shaky ratings during its upcoming live shows with a huge twist.

The BBC dance competition seems to be taking hits on all sides lately - even Louie Spence from Pineapple Dance Studios is having a pop at it! - so now is about the time to make some big changes.

That's exactly what will happen in a few weeks. During an appearance on The One Show on Thursday (January 17), judges Cheryl and Oti Mabuse let slip the spoiler that they're actually going to start dancing with the finalists once the live shows begin!

"I don't know if I'm gonna be told off for saying that, but we are dancing," Cheryl admitted.

Only the cream of the crop will get a chance to dance with Cheryl, Oti and Matthew. Over the next two episodes, the trio will be narrowing down the field even further so only the elite survive for the live shows.

While the show narrows down its rankings of this generation's so-called Greatest Dancer, The One Show's Matt Baker and Alex Jones asked the judges for their picks on who currently holds that title.

"You've got the obvious, don't you? Like Michael Jackson," Cheryl answered. "Me, personally, I love Beyoncé… For me, I love more performance aspect. So, like the face, the attitude, as well as the dancing!

"That really gets me!"

Oti clearly wanted to keep her other TV job safe, telling Matt and Alex: "I think, for me because I come from the Latin and ballroom world, I grew up in that world, we were really about strong females and Shirley, who is actually the head judge on Strictly, was actually [a role model]."

The Greatest Dancer continues on Sunday on BBC One.
