Cheshire takeaway, massage centre and car wash firms caught using illegal workers

Four Cheshire businesses have been hit with fines for the use of illegal workers, according to the latest Government update. The firms - based in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Widnes and Warrington - received fines totalling £90,000.

The latest data shows that Hooton Hand Car Wash on Chester Road, Ellesmere Port, was once again punished. They were fined £40,000 - the same amount as earlier in the year.

Another car wash business - Top Shine Hand Car Wash in Winwick Street, Warrington - was also hit with a fine for the latest enforcement period. Its civil penalty was £20,000.

Elsewhere, Dixi Chicken on Victoria Road, Widnes, and Wellness Massage Centre on Christleton Road, Chester, both received fines of £15,000.

The Cheshire businesses were among a total of 22 employers punished in the north west region, according to the latest Government update on illegal working civil penalties. Fines dished out totalled more than £400,000.

The data in the latest Government report covers the period of October 1 to December 31 last year.
