A picturesque Cheshire village high street is among the top ten most attractive in the UK, according to a new survey. High Street in Great Budworth was ranked sixth place overall.

The study, carried out by SellHouseFast.co.uk, asked more than 1,000 people to rank images of streets based on a number of different factors. These included attractiveness, appeal to families and how expensive they think the houses are.

Almost a fifth of respondents (17 per cent) selected Great Budworth as one of the most charming streets out of those provided. Louis Woodward, estate agent at Stuart Rushton and Company, said: "Great Budworth is a picturesque village with a rich historical heritage, carefully preserved by both its residents and the local authority.

"The main road, High Street, is lined with mostly Grade II listed buildings, along with a traditional church and pub. Modern conveniences, such as a Co-op or Tesco Express, are noticeably absent, which adds to the village's charm.

"Homeowners tend to stay in the village much longer than the average. The majority of properties in the village are purchased as primary residences, with very few rental options available."
