Chesterfield street project to begin next month

Mar. 27—CHESTERFIELD — Residents of Chesterfield will be noticing some changes within the next month as the Water Street project begins.

Council President Ed Leonard could not name an exact date but said the project would begin in April.

South Water Street heading north from the railroad tracks near County Road 67 will be milled and overlaid by E&B Paving.

The Anderson firm made headlines in February after offering to do the project for $441,245.50, which was cheaper than previously estimated.

All but $110,311 of the project costs will be funded with Community Crossings Grant funds.

Those north of the Marathon gas station will be receiving new sidewalks and driveway approaches.

These new amenities will be added from that point all the way to the town limits.
