A ‘Chicago Fire’ Producer Dropped Big News About Severide and Stella's Future

From Country Living

  • Chicago Fire is actually making us feel like Stella and Severide could last forever.

  • Apparently, it's not a trick and the producers might even be planning an engagement in the not-too-distant future.

Chicago Fire fans seem to unanimously back Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) romance. Which is pretty rare, considering people have all kinds of feelings about the couples in the Chicago franchise—see Casey and Brett’s complicated friendship and the #Upstead rising on Chicago P.D.

That said, the more we love a pair the more it seems the creators like to toy with our emotions. With Severide and Stella going so strong lately, and even taking the big step of moving in together, should we be worried about something going wrong?

According to executive producer Derek Haas, they might actually spare us and let Severide and Stella be happy, at least for now. Though we won’t see an actual wedding between the two this season, he did say we’re headed down that path.

“We’re not going to see a double wedding,” he told Entertainment Tonight when asked if they would tie the knot at the same time as Cruz (Joe Minoso) and Chloe (Kristen Gutoskie). “But I think you’re right that Severide and Kidd are very secure in their relationship and we’ll be looking to take steps moving forward.”

As far as any ladies who may try to threaten their future (cough, Seager), it seems that’s just a passing problem.

“Severide’s into Kidd. He’s only got eyes for Kidd,” Derek assured. “Severide’s got his eyes on the prize—the prize being Stella.”

To further drive the point home, Derek said, “We’re Chicago Fire, so you can always worry, but Severide’s not going to be put off by his commitment to her.”
