Chicago Fire spoilers follow.

Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney has dropped some major hints about his future in season 10, after the shocking cliffhanger at the end of season nine.

Fans have been concerned over the fate of Kinney's character Lieutenant Kelly Severide after the team got trapped under a boat wreck in Lake Michigan in season nine's final episode.

Despite Stella suggesting she didn't want to get married again, Severide proposed to her during a fire in the penultimate episode. But by the end of the last episode, the team had run out of air and remained stuck under the wreckage while Stella was looking for him back on shore.

While he has been one of the leading actors on the show since it first premiered in 2012, reports circulated that Kinney's contract was up at the end of season nine, and there was no news about a renewal.

However, an Instagram post from Kinney today (August 19) seems to suggest that Severide's storyline hasn't finished yet.

The photo shows Kinney alongside castmates Randy Flagler, Joe Minoso and Tony Ferraris in their fire-fighting uniforms, with the caption: "Good Times #Squad3 #ChicagoFire."

This is just the latest in a series of rumours that seem to suggest Kinney's character will be back to Firehouse 51 after all.

Previously, co-star Miranda Rae Mayo tagged Kinney in an Instagram story of a throwback set photo captioned, "This is our lives". There was also a casting call for extras for a baby shower scene posted on Facebook, leading many to believe the shower was for Joe Cruz's wife's baby, meaning the crew survived the accident.

Back in February 2020, NBC officially announced that the series had been renewed for a ninth, tenth and eleventh season. So, whether Kinney's character is back or not, fans still have plenty to look forward to.

Season 10 of Chicago Fire premieres on September 22 on NBC.
