Chicken Run 2 is finally hatching in December on Netflix, and we now have the first trailer for the long-awaited sequel, which you can watch above.
Officially titled Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the sequel sees Ginger and Rocky have a little girl called Molly, the final addition of Ginger's dream life having escape from Tweedy's farm.
However, the whole of chicken-kind soon faces a new and terrible threat, leading to Ginger and her team having to put their hard-won freedom at risk.
The new trailer is the first footage we've seen from Chicken Run 2 since the teaser clip was unveiled in June. It comes ahead of the sequel's world premiere next month at the BFI London Film Festival.
While there is a lot of excitement that the classic Aardman movie from 2000 is finally getting a sequel, there is controversy surrounding it.
Ginger and Rocky are voiced this time around by Thandiwe Newton and Zachary Levi, replacing Julia Sawalha and Mel Gibson.
Sawalha released a statement in 2020, saying: "Last week I was informed out of the blue, via email, through my agent that I would not be cast as Ginger in the Chicken Run sequel. The reason they gave is that my voice now sounds 'too old' and they want a younger actress to reprise the role.
"Usually in these circumstances, an actress would be given the chance to do a voice test in order to determine the suitability of their pitch and tone. I, however, was not given this opportunity."
"What an honour to world premiere our film on home turf at the London Film Festival this year," director Sam Fell said when the world premiere was announced.
"Dawn of the Nugget showcases the amazing talent and ingenuity of the crew at Aardman backed by the enduring passion of the team at Netflix. We've poured everything we've got into making this a treat for both die-hard fans and the new generation of families discovering Chicken Run for the first time."
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget arrives on Netflix on December 15. The first movie is available to watch on Disney+ and Prime Video.
