Child injured in collision with car on zebra crossing near primary school

A child suffered a number after being in a collision with a car close to a primary school. The child was taken to hospital by emergency services after the collision on Friday afternoon (September 20).

Witness reports on social media claimed officers from Essex Police attended alongside ambulance colleagues from the East of England Ambulance Service Trust. The collision, which occurred at around 3:15pm, was on a crossing at the junction of Uplands Park Road and Hockley Road.

The location of the incident is just a short distance from the Edward Francis Primary School. No arrest has been made as part of the investigation.

East of England Ambulance Service Trust has been approached for more information. An Essex Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision in Hockley Road, Rayleigh, involving a car and a young child at around 3.15pm on Friday 20 September.

"The child was taken to hospital with a number of injuries following the collision at a crossing near the junction with Uplands Park Road. No arrest was made."
