With over five hours of music, comedy and celebrity guests, it can be tricky to keep track of just what treats the BBC has lined up for its annual Children in Need telethon.

From the EastEnders cast taking on classic musical numbers, to Kem Cetinay and Rylan Clark-Neal on the Weakest Link celebrity special, here are all the must-see moments to look out for in this year’s fundraising marathon.

1. The Weakest Link celebrity special

If you thought Queen of Mean Anne Robinson gave the usual Weakest Link contestants short shrift, it’s nothing compared to the disdain with which she greets the celebrities taking part in the Children in Need special.

Those lining up to receive her withering looks and acerbic takes on their intelligence levels include presenter Rylan Clark Neal, Love Island star Kem Cetinay, TV host Maya Jama and Holby City actress Chizzy Akadolu.

2. Blue Peter does Strictly Come Dancing

We’ve got a sneaking suspicion this particular crossover has been cooked up as a reminder that yes that BBC boat-themed institution Blue Peter is still going. Past and present hosts of the children’s show including Konnie Huq, Radzi Chinyanganya, Tim Vincent, Anthea Turner, Diane-Louise Jordan, Mark Curry.

3. EastEnders singing spectacular

If you feel the BBC’s flagship soap has been missing a musical element – beyond its iconic theme tune of course, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the cast of EastEnders have been dusting off their singing skills.

Expect a musical extravaganza as castmembers including Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright dance and sing their way round Albert Square to hits from some of the biggest West End shows.

4. Craig Revel Horwood and the cast of Annie

As well as putting in his usual sardonic turn as Strictly’s resident panto villain, this year Craig Revel Horwood is starring as Miss Hannigan in the West End production of Annie.

So for one night only viewers can get a sneak peek at the musical as the judge and his fellow castmembers perform a number from the show to open the Children in Need telethon.

5. Joanna Lumley presents the Sir Terry Wogan Fundraiser of the Year award

After Children in Need’s longest running presenter and champion passing away last year, the BBC created the Sir Terry Wogan Fundraiser of the Year award to reward those who have gone above and beyond to help others in the name of Children in Need.

In 2016, the very first prize was awarded to 11-year-old Lauchlan Muir, who had awarded £10,000 for the charity over the years and £3,500 that year.

This year Joanna Lumley will be presenting the hardworking winner with the prestigious award.

Children in Need airs on Friday, November 17 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
