Chilling CCTV shows how Sarah Mayhew's killers tried to cover up their horrific murder

CCTV footage released by the Metropolitan Police shows Steve Sansom and Gemma Watts' pathetic attempt to cover up their murder of Sarah Mayhew. Steve Sansom, 45, and Gemma Watts, 49, have both received life sentences for the killing of mum-of-two Sarah on March 8, 2024.

The couple tricked Sarah, 38, into visiting Sansom's home in Burnell Road, Sutton, under the promise of "drugs and sex". After being spotted on CCTV entering the house at 11pm that evening, she was never seen again.

On March 10, Sansom and Watts began their attempt to cover up their heinous crime. CCTV shows Sansom buying power tools from B&Q on Sutton High Street.

The next day, they crammed Sarah's body parts into bags and made four separate trips to Rowdown Fields, New Addington and the River Wandle in Mitcham to scatter her remains.

About four weeks later, their house of cards fell when a dog walker stumbled across Sarah's remains in New Addington on April 2.

Police were quickly able to track down Sarah's killer as they were both arrested four days later on April 6. Sarah's torso was then found by contractors in the River Wandle on May 21.

On Thursday, January 30 Steve Sansom received a whole life order for the murder of Sarah Mayhew, meaning he'll spend the rest of his life behind bars. Justice Mrs Cutts dealt this punishment due to it being Sansom's second murder conviction.
