Chilling footage captures the moment that cops were forced to hide from bullets as they heroically attempted to end Stephen Paddock‘s reign of murderous gunfire in Las Vegas.

Paddock, 64, killed 58 people when he opened fire on a Las Vegas country music festival from his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Sunday night.

He later turned the gun on himself following the deadliest mass shooting in American modern history.

Bodycam footage has now captured the desperate attempts by Las Vegas Police to thwart Paddock’s rampage, with cops dodging bullets before he eventually killed himself.

A clear motive is yet to be established for his horrific crimes, but it has now been confirmed that his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, will be brought back to the US today for questioning as a “person of interest” in the investigation.

FBI investigators are still trying to trace the $100,000 US dollars (£75,000) that Paddock transferred to the Philippines in the days before the shooting, and are also looking into reports that he gambled more than 10,000 dollars per day.

Despite no clear motive being established for Paddock’s actions, Vegas sheriff Joseph Lombardo has said he is “absolutely” confident that investigators will be able to determine why the big-spending gambler carried out the attack.

‘I anticipate he was looking for anybody coming to take him into custody’, Lombardo said.

‘The fact that he had the type of weaponry and amount of weaponry in that room, it was pre-planned extensively and I’m pretty sure he evaluated everything that he did and his actions, which is troublesome.’
