China unveils moon-landing spacesuit for the first time as it eyes mission before 2030
China has given a first look at a new high-tech spacesuit, as it plans manned lunar landing by 2030.
The red and white suit is reportedly lightweight and has a number of specialist features, including cameras that can record both close-ups and long-range distances. It was unveiled at the Spacesuit Technology Forum in Southwest China.
“The red stripes on its upper limbs are inspired by ribbons from the famous ‘flying apsaras’ of Dunhuang art, while those on its lower limbs resemble rocket launch flames,” Xinhua News reported of its design.
