Chinese New Year 2025: find out which zodiac sign you are

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the New Year celebration for China and kicks off events across Glasgow and beyond for communities who celebrate this special time of year.

Taking place on Wednesday (January 29), it's a day of significance and celebration, with 2025 marking the Year of the Wood Snake in the Chinese zodiac.

It also marks the Lunar New Year, which is not just specific to China, and refers to the celebration of the new year based on the Lunar calendar that follows the moon's orbit around the earth, and is recognised and celebrated across the globe in Asian communities including Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake, which symbolises wisdom and transformation.

The Snake is one of 12 important animal signs, which rotate in sequence on the Chinese Zodiac every year, previous Years of the Snake include 1928, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001 and 2013.
