Chocolate bar making a comeback 30 years after it was renamed
Marathon bars are set for a nostalgic return to the UK snack scene. Despite being rebranded Snickers over three decades ago in 1990, the popular chocolate bar will revert to its original name for a short time.
Mars Wrigley announced with enthusiasm: "We're excited to bring back Marathon for a limited period."
Introduced to the UK by Mars in 1968, Marathon shared its recipe with the already established American Snickers, which was christened in 1930 and linked to a family horse. The treat even enjoyed fame in an advertisement featuring Joan Collins in 2012.

In a move to standardise the brand globally, UK bars adopted the Snickers name in 1990. Now, Marathon is joining a list of beloved classic snacks like Wispa, Top Deck, and Caramac that have all seen revivals.
The retro Marathons will be a Morrisons exclusive until December, reports the Mirror.
Several other products, too, have experienced alterations in their names over time.
Many products have also had name changes over the years.
In 1998, sweets Opal Fruits were rebranded as Starburst in 1998 to align with the global brand name:
Household cleaning product Jif was renamed Cif in the UK in 2001 to align with the name used in other European countries.
Meanwhile tropical fizzy drink Lilt was turned into Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit last year, to make the drink part of the more popular Fanta range.
