Chris Brown given restraining order over 'threat to kill' ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran

Chris Brown has been ordered to stay away from his model ex-girlfriend following claims he punched her in the stomach and threatened to kill her.

A Los Angeles court granted the restraining order for model Karrueche Tran against the rapper, who has been warned he faces arrest if he goes near her.

Tran claims the 27-year-old punched her in the stomach and pushed her down the stairs several years ago, but that she did not contact police at the time.

She reportedly decided to apply for the restraining order after recently receiving alleged threatening text messages from Brown.

According to court documents, she said: "He told a few people that he was going to kill me. He said if no one else can have me, he's gonna 'take me out'".

Brown and Tran have been in an on-and-off relationship since he broke up with Rihanna in 2009. He was later convicted of beating the star and was sentenced to six years probation which ended in 2015 .

Two years before, he was charged with assault for beating a man outside a Washington hotel and was put into rehab.

Last year, he was again arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after an hours-long standoff with police.

On Tuesday, Brown posted a video on his Instagram account apparently referring to the accusations of domestic abuse, calling them "b*******".

He also announced he is pulling out of a much-publicised fight with rapper Soulja Boy.

The two stars had been trading punches over social media and dared each other to settle scores with a real-life fight.

The celebrity boxing match, which would have proved lucrative for the two of them, had been backed by Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson and rapper 50 Cent .

Brown called the match "immature" and said that too many middlemen "got in the way because they want to get a piece of the pie".
